OUR CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

A cause close to our hearts.

Glitterati’s charitable foundation is our salon’s fundraising initiative in support of The Little Princess Trust. The Trust provides free real-hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions, and funds childhood cancer research.

We’re donating 100% of our haircut profits towards our £10,000 fundraising goal. Every salon visit, hair donation and fundraiser helps us move closer to that target.

The Little Princess Trust says it costs around £700 to provide one real-hair wig, including making, fitting and styling.

WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Be part of the foundation.

Choose the way that suits you. Hair donations go directly to The Little Princess Trust; fundraising helps meet the cost of providing wigs and supporting the Trust’s work.

01 · DONATE HAIR

Make the big chop count.

The Trust accepts UK hair donations from 10 inches (25 cm), and encourages donors to grow it to 12 inches (30 cm) or more where possible.

02 · SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGN

Help us reach £10,000.

One hundred per cent of Glitterati’s haircut profits are being donated towards our fundraising goal. Book your next haircut at the salon and be part of it.

BEFORE YOUR SALON VISIT

The Little Princess Trust hair-donation guide.

These points reflect the Trust’s current hair-donation page, FAQ and published guidelines. Please check the Trust’s instructions again before your cut, as requirements can change.

What hair can be donated?

Hair should be clean, completely dry and in good condition. The Trust encourages donations of 12 inches (30 cm) or longer; the minimum for UK donations is 10 inches (25 cm).

  • Natural shades are accepted. Permanently dyed, highlighted or bleached hair may be accepted if it is in good condition and remains a natural colour.

  • Temporary, semi-permanent and henna dyes are not accepted; neither are unnatural shades or hair that is primarily grey.

  • The published guidelines exclude extensions. The Trust’s FAQ gives a limited exception for Great Lengths extensions of at least 16 inches, sent directly by a Great Lengths salon. Check with the Trust first.

How to prepare your hair
  • Wash your hair and dry it thoroughly. Rinse out all conditioner and leave out styling products.

  • Secure the dry hair in one or more ponytails, with bands at regular intervals. Ask your stylist to cut above the top band.

  • For curly or Afro-textured hair, keep the curls in their natural form and do not plait before cutting. The Trust asks donors not to use oils when washing beforehand.

  • Place the tied hair in a recyclable parcel and include the Trust’s completed hair-donation form. Use the mailing address shown on the latest form.

THE WEYBRIDGE HAIR DONATION

Katie Macdonald’s kindness.

Our Salon page celebrates local client Katie Macdonald, who donated her hair to help young people who have lost theirs through illness.

Her story is a lovely reminder that a personal gesture can mean a great deal. The Trust welcomes donations from people of all genders and hair textures, provided the hair meets its current requirements.

Thank you for supporting our cause
